New Hampshire Four Thousand Footers
The New Hampshire White Mountains has 48 peaks at 4,000 feet or higher. The Four Thousand Footer Club was formed in 1957. Applicants must climb all 48 peaks in New Hampshire. To qualify for membership, a hiker must climb to and from each summit on the list, on foot. The Official lists also contains 14 Four Thousand Footers in Maine and also 5 Four Thousand Footers in Vermont. Criteria for mountains on the Official list are:
1. Each peak must be 4,000 ft. high, and
2. Each peak must rise 200 ft. above the low point of its connecting ridge with a higher neighbor.
